Excavation of Rani ki Bawdi: Rani ki stepwell located in Sambhal is revealing new secrets every day. During excavation in Chandausi area on Sunday (22 December), another new corridor was found from this ancient stepwell. A total of 5 corridors have been revealed so far in the excavation of Queen’s stepwell. However, disregard for the safety and facilities of workers during excavation work has created a serious situation.
During excavation, workers have to work in unsafe and dangerous conditions. Due to working at depth, workers are facing lack of oxygen, collapsing structures and poisonous gases. According to reports from UP, workers are being given food only once in four days. Lack of adequate water, health facilities, and living arrangements is affecting the health of the workers. The workers are working without helmets, safety harnesses and other safety equipment.
What did the workers say?
According to the report till UP, the workers say, “Here we are bringing drinking water in bags full of water. Water should come in bottles for drinking, but we are cheating each other by bringing water in bags, due to which We could quench our thirst. There is less oxygen here and we are feeling short of breath. It has been four days since we started working, it is so cold. , Here There is no arrangement for tea and water, leave alone water no one is even asking for water.
There is a well inside the stepwell
So far, 8 stairs have emerged in the stepwell with the help of which the workers have gone inside the stepwell. This excavation is not being done by JCB but by laborers so that there is no damage to the stepwell. It is believed that a well is also present inside the stepwell. The entire work of digging the stepwell is being done by the Chaundausi administration.

This ancient stepwell is an important water conservation structure, which is a symbol of the architectural and cultural heritage of India. It was built by a queen with the aim of removing the water crisis in her kingdom. Till now the administrative team has excavated the stepwell to a depth of seven feet. Five corridors have been discovered during the excavation.
